Brandon Mitchell-Day and
Ryan Cornish combined for 49 points as the Dartmouth Men's Basketball team took down Penn 73-70 on Saturday afternoon from Leede Arena in the Ivy League opener.

Cornish drained 24 and added 10 rebounds for a double double and Mitchell-Day grabbed eight rebounds for the Big Green. Mitchell-Day shot 11-19 from the field in the contest.
The Big Green's record improves to 7-7 (1-0 Ivy League) and Penn's falls to 4-10 (0-1 Ivy League). Â

FIRST HALF: 
- Connor Amundsen drained a three to kick things off in the game and Mitchell-Day followed that with a layup to give the Big Green an early lead.
- A dunk from Mitchell-Day sparked a 10-3 run by Dartmouth to give them a 22-11 lead with 7:45 to go in the half.
- Over the next 3:05, Penn responded with an 8-2 run to close the Big Green lead to 24-19.
- The Quakers ended the half outscoring the Big Green 12-2 to take a 31-29 lead into halftime.
SECOND HALF:
- Dartmouth opened the half on a 12-0 run to regain a 41-31 lead. 10 of those points came from Mitchell-Day.
- Three unanswered layups from Penn's Nick Spinoso brought the Quakers within four, 41-37 with 13:41 to go.
- Another run from Penn tied the game at 48-48 with 10:13 remaining.
- The Big Green forced five Penn turnovers in five minutes to really swing momentum their way with 1:11 remaining.
- Three free throws from Cornish in the final 10 seconds secured the victory for the Big Green, 73-70.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- In Dartmouth's opening run of the second half, the Big Green held the Quakers from scoring for 3:43.
- The game saw five ties and 10 lead changes with all but one tie coming in the second half.
- Dartmouth forced 16 turnovers from Penn and capitalized with 20 points off the turnovers.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Cornish's 24 points were a season high and his eight made baskets from the field tied a season high.
- Mitchell-Day's 25 points was also a season high as well as his 11 made baskets from the field.
- Dartmouth held a lead for a total of 32:51 in the game.
- This marks the Big Green's first win in an Ivy League opener since the 2018-19 season.
