HANOVER, N.H. – After dropping the Ivy League opener on the road last weekend, men's soccer returned to Burnham Field to continue conference play, looking to get in the win column.
The Big Green welcomed the league leading Cornell Big Red to Hanover, who dominated defensively, defeating Dartmouth 6-2. With the loss, Dartmouth falls to 1-4-3 on the season and 0-2 in Ivy play.
The Big Green and Big Red played evenly through the first 15 minutes of the first half, but Cornell was able to find the back of the net in the 17th minute, giving them a 1-0 lead.
Over the next 15 minutes, they would extend their lead to three.
Dartmouth responded, scoring less than four minutes after the Big Red scored their third goal. James Wilson sent a perfect cross into the box, finding the head of a diving Sam Fenton who scored his first of the season to make the score 3-1.

Before the half expired, the Big Red added one more, making it a 4-1 game headed into the break.
Despite the Big Green outshooting the Big Red and generating more offensive opportunities in the second half, Cornell was able to score two more goals in the 62nd and 69th minute.
Dartmouth continued to push despite the score and eventually found the back of the net in the 78th minute. Vasilis Moiras made his way back onto the scoresheet, finding the head of Milo Peters for his first career goal, making it a 6-2 game.
With about 12 minutes to play, the Big Green continued to pressure, generating a free kick from right outside the box and multiple corner kicks, but the Big Red defense held strong, defeating Dartmouth, 6-2.
Konstantinos Dellas played the first half in goal for the Big Green, making four saves. TJ Jeffreys played the second half, stopping two shots.
Bobby Clark Head Coach of Men's Soccer Bo Oshoniyi credited Cornell and said the difference Saturday was energy.
We talked about being able to match their energy and I thought we did that for a bit in the first half, Oshoniyi said. I think we let up a pretty soft goal to give them a 1-0 lead, and then I think we just kind of lost our fight a little bit… This happens, you have games like this and then when you don't show up like you need to against a really good opponent, they're going to make you pay.

The Big Green will now shift their focus to Columbia, as they travel to New York City next weekend to take on the Lions.
Oshiniyi said the focus for his team headed into the rest of Ivy League play is to Not to let a team's energy, a team's beliefs, a team's will overtake you. That's something we'll talk about all week.
I don't think it's a tactics thing. I don't think it's a personnel thing. I think we have players here that can play better than what they showed tonight, Oshoniyi added. I truly know that this group is going to come out and give everything they have against Columbia.
Kickoff against the Lions next Saturday, October 11 is set for 6 p.m. You can watch the game on ESPN+ or follow the live stats on DartmouthSports.com.
