HANOVER, N.H. – On Monday, first-year goaltender Michaela Hesová was named a unanimous selection to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team.
Hesová played in 28 of the Big Green's 29 games as a first-year, posting a 2.56 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. She also tallied 848 saves, setting a new program record for most saves in a season.
Her first career appearance was the Big Green's season opener at then No. 12 Penn State. Hesová stopped 42 of the 43 shots she faced.
In the Big Green's first win of the season at in-state rival UNH, Hesová allowed only one goal, making 15 saves.
The game against the Wildcats was the first of a seven-game unbeaten streak for the Big Green in which they posted a 4-0-3 record. Hesová played in six of those seven games and was a huge part of the team's success, making 142 saves and allowing only seven goals for a .953 save percentage.
That stretch also featured an overtime win over Harvard, a regulation win over Union, and a tie with then No. 6 Cornell.
During the Big Green's final regular season games of the season, Hesová led Dartmouth to a 2-0 win over No. 7 St. Lawrence making 36 saves as the Big Green defeated the Saints for the first time since 2021.
She then made 47 saves in the regular season finale to bring her season total to 818, tying to program record. Hesová would go on to break the record in the Big Green's ECAC Hockey Opening Round playoff loss at Yale, where she made 30 saves, bringing her season total to 848 and setting the new program record.
Hesová earned three ECAC Hockey weekly recognitions this season, the MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week award on January 7 and the Bitcoin Rookie of the Week award on January 21 and February 18. This is Hesová's first time being named to a postseason team.
