Foley and Coaching Staff Earn Major Awards
PRINCETON, N.J.—The Ivy League announced its All-Ivy major awards and All-Ivy teams for men's hockey on Wednesday morning.
Dartmouth's CJ Foley has been named Ivy League Player of the Year while the Dartmouth coaching staff has been named the Coaching Staff of the Year. Foley was named First Team All-Ivy while Hayden Stavroff, Cooper Flinton, and Emmett Croteau has been named Second Team All-Ivy. Cam MacDonald has earned Academic All-Ivy Honors.
Following the 2023-24 season, Foley was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year. In 2024-25 as a sophomore, he has been named Player of the Year. In 10 Ivy League games this season the Big Green defensemen tallied four goals and six assists for the Big Green. His 10 points led Ivy League defensemen while being tied for fourth most among all Ivy League skaters. The Hanover, Mass. native also notched a team high +8 rating while blocking 17 shots. Overall, this season Foley has 29 points with 11 goals and 18 assists in 30 games. It is the second straight season that he has been named a unanimous All-Ivy First Team selection. He is the first Big Green player to be named Ivy League Player of the Year since Drew O'Connor '22 shared the award in 2020. David Jones '08 in 2007 was the last sole Dartmouth winner. Foley is the fifth Dartmouth player all-time to be named Ivy League Player of the Year.
Flinton skated in all 10 Ivy League games this season for the Big Green. He tallied nine points in the 10 games with four goals and five assists. While tallying nine points he finished with a +7 rating while also blocking 10 shots. His nine points were tied for eighth among Ivy League skaters. The junior from Auburn, N.H. has skated in 29 games this season for the Big Green while scoring 10 goals and adding 13 assists.
Stavroff took the Ivy League and ECAC by storm in his first season of college hockey. In 10 Ivy League games, the first-year totaled 10 points on six goals and four assists. Two of the six goals were game winning goals while he scored one power play goal. He opened Ivy League play with a four game point streak, during the four games he had three goals and three assists. The Columbus, Ohio native has 20 points in 28 games this season on 10 goals and 10 assists to start his career.
Croteau joined the Big Green as a sophomore after starting his career at Clarkson. The Bonnyville, Alta. native started five games for the Big Green in Ivy League play. He notched a .934 save percentage in the five games and a goals against average of 1.43 along with a 5-0-0 record. In the final game of the regular season against Yale he made 25 saves on 26 shots as Dartmouth clinched the sole Ivy League title with a 5-1 win. This season, Croteau has a 11-4-0 record along with a 2.11 goals against average and a .899 save percentage in 16 starts.
MacDonald got it done in the classroom and on the ice for the Big Green as was named to the Academic All-Ivy Team. The computer science major tallied a goal and four assists over 10 Ivy League games. Against Princeton he scored and added an assist for the first of two multi-point Ivy League games. The Surrey, B.C. native is having a career year as he has set career highs in goals (six) and assists (10).
The Dartmouth coaching staff led by Koenig Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Men's Hockey, Reid Cashman has been named Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year. This is the first season that the Ivy League will recognize the entire staff. Cashman is joined by associate head coach Jason Tapp, assistant coaches Byron Pool and Brian Fahey, and Director of Hockey Operations Brian Corcoran. The Big Green claimed its 15th Ivy League title with an 8-2-0 Ivy League record. It is the programs first Ivy League title since 2007 and the first sole title since 1980.
The Big Green seek a spot in the ECAC Hockey semifinals as they take on Union in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals this weekend. Dartmouth opens the best of three series on Friday, Mar. 14 at 7 PM in Schenectady, N.Y. Game two is set for 4 PM on Saturday. A winner take all game three would start on Sunday at 4 PM if necessary.
