PRINCETON, N.J. – Following two midweek losses, the Big Green returned to action, opening Ivy League play at Princeton with a doubleheader.

Despite taking a lead in the sixth inning, Princeton battled back scoring four unanswered runs to defeat the Big Green. Â

Game 1: Princeton 8, Dartmouth 5
In game one of the three game series with the Tigers, the Big Green held a brief lead in the sixth inning but runs in four straight innings led Princeton to an 8-5 victory over the Big Green.

The Tigers opened the scoring, taking a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a sacrifice fly.

The Big Green tied the game in the fifth when
Alejandro Puig grounded out to score
Zackarie Casebonne. Princeton wasted no time responding though, tallying three runs in their half of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.

In the sixth inning, the Big Green offense shined, plating four runs.
Taer Rodriguez led off the inning with a single, one of his three hits in game one. Two more singles from
A.J. DeMastrie and
Ethan Brown loaded the bases with no outs for
Jackson Hower. Hower bounced into a fielder's choice to score one, while an error brought DeMastrie home and sent Brown to third, bringing the Big Green within one.

Casebonne drove in Brown only a few pitches later with a sacrifice fly to tie the game for the Big Green before
Chris Miller also drove in a run on another sacrifice fly, giving Dartmouth a 5-4 lead.

Princeton immediately responded, adding two runs in their half of the sixth inning to retake the lead. The Tigers also added runs in the seventh and eighth to secure the 8-5 victory over the Big Green.

Eddie Albert got the start on the mound for Dartmouth, his fourth of the season. In 4.2 innings, Albert allowed four runs on seven hits. He also walked two batters and fanned five.

Joseph Chambers was the lone relief pitcher used in game one, allowing four runs on five hits in 3.1 innings of work. He dealt three walks and struck out one Tiger.

Dartmouth and Princeton were able to get game two of the doubleheader underway, but a 5-5 tie sent the game into extra innings. The Big Green had the bases loaded in the eleventh inning with a chance to take the lead, but Princeton got out of the jam.

Before the start of the 12
th inning, the game was suspended due to darkness and will be resumed Sunday. The Big Green and Tigers will also play the series finale on Sunday.
