HANOVER, N.H. – First-year goaltender Michaela Hesová continues to collect accolades, most recently being named an ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year Finalist.
Since the end of the 2024-25 season, Hesová has been a unanimous selection to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team and named a Second Team All-Ivy League honoree.
Hesová wrapped her first season with the Big Green with a 2.56 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. Her save percentage ranks her eighth in program history in single season save percentage.
She also broke the program record for most saves in a season, tallying 30 in the Big Green's final game of the season at Yale. Hesová finished with 848 saves, beating the prior record set by Christine Honor during the 2017-18 season (818).
The first-year netminder made her first start of the season in the Big Green's opener at then No. 12 Penn State. Hesová stopped 42 shots, allowing only one goal.
Hesová had success against ranked opponents late in the season as well, helping the Big Green to a 2-2 tie with No. 6 Cornell, making 29 saves, and a 36 save shutout win over No. 7 St. Lawrence. The next night, Hesová made 47 saves in the regular season finale vs. Cornell to tie the program record for saves in a season, before setting the new record at Yale in the Opening Round of the ECAC Hockey playoffs.
During the middle of the season, the Big Green went on a 4-0-3 stretch, led by Hesová in net. In that span, she posted a .953 save percentage, allowing only seven goals while making 142 total saves.
Hesová earned three ECAC Hockey weekly recognitions this season, the MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week award on January 7 and the Bitcoin Rookie of the Week award on January 21 and February 18. She has since earned two postseason recognitions, while this is her first time being nominated for a major award.
