MEDFORD, Mass. – Dartmouth baseball opened its weekend series against the Harvard Crimson, Friday, playing a neutral site game against the Crimson.

Despite a three-run deficit headed into the seventh, the Big Green plated runs in each of the final three innings and kept the Crimson off the scoreboard, defeating Harvard, 5-3.

With the win, Dartmouth moves to 9-18 overall and 5-8 in Ivy League play.

The Big Green threatened to score early, putting two on with two outs in the first, but the Crimson were able to get out of trouble, keeping the game scoreless. They also hit their third single of the day in the second, as
Sam Andersen eventually advanced to second after a stolen base, but the Crimson were able to get the third out.

Harvard took the lead in their half of the second, converting on a double and RBI single, taking the 1-0 lead.

Dartmouth once again pressured to get on the board in the third, but a mishap on the base paths cut the Big Green's momentum short. In the fourth,
Chris Miller led off the inning with a double, advancing to third on a groundout to put the tying run 90-feet away with only one out. The Crimson got the two quick outs to hold onto their lead.

Harvard wasted no time responding, doubling their lead in the bottom half of the inning as the Crimson hit a leadoff triple before driving in the second run of the game on a sacrifice fly. They added their third run of the game in the sixth, thanks to a leadoff double and RBI single.

Taer Rodriguez led off the seventh with a single, giving Dartmouth its first base runner since the fourth inning. With one out,
Alejandro Puig ripped a double on the first pitch he saw, making it a 3-1 game and forcing a Crimson pitching change.

A.J. DeMastrie was hit by the first pitch he saw, putting two runners on with two outs, but the Big Green were unable to send anyone else across home plate.

Trey Sejnoha, who came into the game in relief in the sixth, continued to impress in the seventh, striking out two of the three Crimson batters he faced en route to a 1-2-3 inning, and giving his team the opportunity to tie the game.

The Big Green did just that, scoring two runs in the top of the eighth to make it a 3-3 game.
Tyler Sirchia led off the inning with a walk before pinch hitter
Henry Murray also reached via free pass, being hit by the pitch. Miller laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners before Rodriguez bounced into a fielder's choice to pull Dartmouth within one.

Andersen then laid down a perfect bunt single, scoring Murray from third to tie the game.

The Crimson were able to reach via a walk in the eighth, but the game remained tied headed into the ninth.

DeMastrie led off the ninth with a single before
Milo Suarez ripped his team leading seventh double of the season, putting the Big Green in front, 4-3. One batter later, Murray doubled, swapping places with Suarez on the base paths and scoring Dartmouth's fifth run.

Mac Burke, who came in to pitch in the eighth, continued to impress in the ninth, getting the Crimson in order to secure the win.

Nate Kugler got the start on the mound for the Big Green, giving up three runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings of work. He walked one and fanned five.

Sejnoha and Burke combined for the final 3.2 innings, each tossing scoreless and hitless outings. Sejnoha fanned three in his 1.2 innings of work, while Burke walked one and struck out two in his two innings, earning the win.

The Big Green and Crimson will be back in action, Saturday, April 18as the two teams play a doubleheader at O'Donnell Field. First pitch is set for 11:30 a.m. with game two to follow. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+ or you can follow the live stats on DartmouthSports.com.
