HANOVER, N.H.—Dartmouth women's lacrosse battled with No. 5 Yale on Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell 11-8 to the Bulldogs.
Yale scored the first three goals of the game before Samantha Bennett scored at the 4:49 mark of the frame. Ryan Hapgood made it a one goal game at the 2:24 mark of the first quarter. Yale scored with 35 seconds left in the quarter to take a 4-2 lead to the second quarter.
Fiona O'Keeffe scored at both the 5:54 and 5:18 marks of the second quarter to tie the game at four. Yale responded with two goals in the final minute of the half to take a 6-4 lead to the break.
The Bulldogs took a five-goal lead in the third quarter as they outscored Dartmouth 4-1 in the stanza. F. O'Keeffe scored the first goal of the quarter to complete her hat-trick, but Yale scored the final four goals of the quarter.
The Big Green outscored Yale 3-1 in the fourth quarter as Madeline Egan scored at the 12:44 mark of the fourth. After Yale scored, F. O'Keeffe and R. Hapgood scored at the 4:08 and 2:29 marks to make it a three-goal game. Dartmouth could not mount anymore of a comeback and fell to 1-3 in Ivy play.
Ruby Lucken made four saves for the Big Green as the Dartmouth Yale to 15 shots on goal which is below their season average.
Dartmouth outshot the Bulldogs 23-22 in shot attempts and 17-15 in shots on goal.
Maya Kendall had six draw controls while Mia Puccio collected four.
Caroline Haggerty, McLean Stokes, Caroline Kendall, Etta Coburn, and Puccio each caused one turnover. Both Corburn and Puccio each collected two ground balls to lead Dartmouth.
The Big Green hit the road for three of their final four regular season games. Dartmouth starts the stretch on Saturday, April 11 in Providence against Brown at 3:30 PM.
