BOSTON, Mass. – Dartmouth baseball headed to Massachusetts, Wednesday, taking on the Boston College Eagles in a midweek nonconference matchup.

Despite opening the scoring in the first inning, the Big Green could not hang on, falling to Boston College in seven innings, 13-3.

With the loss, Dartmouth falls to 6-16 on the season.

The Big Green took a 1-0 lead with only one out in the first inning. Nico Bañez drew a leadoff walk before
Milo Suarez doubled to deep left field, driving him home. Boston College immediately responded, taking a 2-1 lead over the Big Green on a two-run home run.

The Eagles added to their lead in the second. The leadoff batter reached after being hit by the pitch, later advancing to second on a wild pitch. An error in the outfield scored the runner from second, making it a 3-1 game.

In the third inning, back-to-back two walks out but two runners on for the Big Green. Only three pitches later, both
Tyler Sirchia and
Chris Miller scored on a
Stefan Di Corrado triple to right, tying the game.

The tie did not last long, as the Eagles retook the lead, scoring three runs on two hits, a walk, and a hit by pitch.

Now down 6-3, the Big Green put a runner in scoring position after Bañez reached on a single and stole second base, but Dartmouth could not bring him home.

Boston College added to its lead in the fourth, plating six runs on three hits, two of which were for extra bases. The Big Green also walked two, and gave up two additional free bases, one on a hit by pitch and another on a dropped third strike.

Dartmouth threatened to put runs on the board despite the deficit, having runners on the corners with two outs in the fifth and putting two on with one out in the seventh, but the Big Green were not able to plate any more runs, falling to the Eagles, 13-3 in seven innings.

At the plate, Suarez was 1-for-2 with a  walk and RBI while Di Corrado went 1-for-2 wuth two RBI and two walks.

Nate Matoush started the game on the mound for the Big Green, allowing two runs on three hits with one strikeout in the first inning.
Trey Sejnoha followed, giving up one run in his one frame of work.

Mac Burke followed, allowing three runs on two hits with a walk and hit by pitch.
Andrew Lombana pitched the next two innings, giving up six runs on three hits with two walks.

Aidan Plummer was the only Big Green pitcher to toss a scoreless outing, allowing one hit and two walks in his 1.2 innings of work.

Austin Moran finished the game on the mound, allowing one run in his one inning of work. Â

The Big Green will now shift their focus to the weekend, as they welcome the Brown Bears to Hanover for another three-game Ivy League set. The two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 followed by a single game on Sunday, April 12 at 12 p.m.
