2017-18 Smoyer Award (Unsung Hero)
2017-18 (Senior): Finished the season with one goal and three points in 28 games played... led the team in penalties with 13 and second in PIMs with 26... First point of the season was an assist on the first of Will Graber’s three goals at RPI (2.9)...Assisted on Collin Rutherford’s 1st goal in comeback win vs. SLU (2.17)...Scored his first goal of the season in the final minute of the 2nd period of Game 2 of the 1st round series with SLU (3.3)...Named the recipient of the Smoyer Award as the team’s Unsung Hero along with Dean Shatzer. It was the first time in 42 years that the award was shared between teammates.
2016-17 (Junior): Appeared in 5 games with one assist at St. Lawrence on Dec. 3... Missed most of the season due to an injury.
2015-16 (Sophomore): Played in 24 games, including all six postseason contests...Joined Tim Shoup and Kevin Neiley as one of three sophomores to score their first career goals on Jan. 15 against Clarkson in a 5-2 Dartmouth win. the goal was the first of his collegiate career...Notched a goal in Dartmouth's Game 1 win at Yale during the team's quarterfinal sweep of the Elis en route to a berth in Lake Placid...Had both of his two assists in consecutive games at Colgate (Jan. 23) and against No. 1 Quinnipiac (Jan. 29)...Led the team in penalties (15) and penalty minutes (38)...Fourth on the team in blocked shots with 41.
2014-15 (Freshman): Appeared in six games…Did not register a point…Finished with an even +/- rating…Whistled for one minor penalty at Princeton on Dec. 6.
Before Dartmouth: Coming to Hanover via Wenatchee, Rymsha is another big defenseman on the Big Green blueline. His one season in the NAHL produced 16 points on four goals and 12 assists in 45 games. Rymsha wasn't afraid to play a physical brand of hockey in juniors either, posting 60 PIM in his one year there. In 2012-13, he suited up for both Little Caesars U18 (HPHL) and the Fargo Force (USHL) before finding his way to the Northwest as Josh Hartley's replacement on the Wild's backend.Prior to his time in Wenatchee, Rymsha attended Orchard Lake St. Mary's (Orchard Lake, Mich.) where he played both baseball and hockey.
Personal: Son of Andy and Ronalee Rymsha...Has one brother, Drake, who began play with the London Knights of the OHL in 2014-15 and is now a member of the Ottawa 67's...Originally selected by the Blues in the 1987 draft (4th round/82nd overall), his father played parts of the 1991-92 season with the Quebec Nordiques before finishing his career with several different AHL and European Clubs. Andy played four seasons at Western Michigan (NCAA), suiting up in 155 games and compiling 16 goals, 48 points and 483 career penalty minutes, 76 more than the next closest Broncos player all-time...Uncle Steve Rymsha played at Western Michigan from 1997-2001, registerting 54 points on 25 goals and 29 assists as a senior.
