October 2020
Morgan Illikainen, a 2015 Dartmouth graduate and alternate captain as a senior, was named interim head coach in August of 2020.
Illikainen served as an assistant coach with the Big Green for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. She assisted in all phases of practice planning, game strategy, and facilitating practice and skill development sessions. Illikainen organized prospective student-athlete campus tours and engaged in recruiting-specific communication with the athlete, their families and club coaches. Her time at Dartmouth was highlighted by one-goal victories against Quinnipiac both years and an overtime win over defending national champion and fourth-ranked Clarkson.
Prior to returning to Hanover the first time, she worked at Northwood (2016-17), where she was an assistant coach with both the hockey and the lacrosse teams. She helped with practice, weight room training sessions and recruiting in New York and New England. Her time away from the rink and the lacrosse field was spent in the classroom, serving as the world history teacher.
Illikainen graduated from Dartmouth with a degree in psychology and government. While wearing a green and white uniform, she appeared in 112 games. Her most successful season was her final year, scoring four goals and tacking on seven assists for a career-high 11 points. She also had three power play goals and the game winner against Northeastern on New Year’s Eve.
