HANOVER, N.H. ? The Dartmouth women's hockey team walked away with four awards after last Friday's 25th ECAC Women's Hockey Awards Banquet at Harvard's Murr Center of History.
Junior netminder
Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) was named the 2007-08 ECAC Hockey Student-Athlete of the Year. Clemis is a former ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Year, first-teamer and four-time ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week. She is fourth all-time in career wins at Dartmouth with 41, while second all-time with a 2.11 goals against average in two-plus seasons with the Big Green. Off the ice she is a model student-athlete. Majoring in Biology with a focus for Pre-Med, Clemis is a two-time member of the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team. She has been involved in many community projects including being a team leader for Relay for Life, volunteer for the Kidney Foundation of Canada and at the Taber Hospital in Alberta, and a member of the Alpha Phi International Fraternity, which main philanthropic focus is the American Cancer Society.
Sophomore
Jenna Cunningham (Medicine Hat, Alta.) earned ECAC Hockey Second Team honors after a 37-point season in 17 games played. She is second on the team in points and still leads the Big Green in goals with 17. Cunningham also is tops in power play goals with six and is tied for second with three game-winning goals.
Joining Cunningham on the second team was junior
Maggie Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn.). Kennedy leads the Big Green in points with 39, including a team leading 23 assists. She has come on lately with at least a point in 10 of the last 11 games, consisting of four multi-point games. She has added 16 goals, including five on the power play, which was second on the team in both offensive categories.
Sophomore
Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.) garnered a spot on the third team. Parsons has been a spark for the Big Green down the stretch with an 11-game point streak, which Dartmouth is 7-1-4 over those games. She is third on the team with 33 points, including 14 goals and 19 assists. Parsons is tied for the team lead for shorthanded goals with two and is tied for second with 28 points in conference play.
The Big Green received the eighth-seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament and will be facing long-time rival and top-seeded Harvard on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bright Hockey Center for a chance at the 2008 Frozen Four.
