HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's crew team opened its 2009 fall schedule this past weekend at the 45th annual Head of the Charles Regatta.
The Big Green sent one boat and competed in the Championship Eight division. Dartmouth finished in 17:49.6, which put the Big Green in 18th. Yale was the top collegiate boat and third overall in the event with a time of 16:43.8. ASR Nereus was the top boat as they were in at 16:08.2. while a team for the US Rowing Training Center was second at 16:32.5.
“We knew that we would not be quite up to speed in time to have a very strong finish at the Charles,” said head coach Wendy Levash. “We are patiently working on improving our skill level and keeping our eyes on the bigger picture, which is to be at full speed by the end of the spring season. The result gives us a measure of just how much work there is to do.”
Next up for the Big Green this fall will be the Princeton Chase this coming weekend, beginnig at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Dartmouth then will host its annual Green Monster race on Nov. 7.
