Men's Lightweight Rowing
at Harvard

4/25/2012 10:46:00 AM | Women's Track & Field, Athletics, Men's Lightweight Rowing
This week's DartmouthSports.com athletes both compete on the water....sort of. Senior Lexi Pappas is setting records in the steeplechase, while junior Josh Konieczny rows for the lightweight crew team. Three weeks ago, Pappas set a Dartmouth record in the steeplechase only to break it this past week in California. Konieczny has been an integral part of the succes of the lightweight crew team this spring.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Josh Konieczny, (Milbury, Ohio) Jr., Stroke, Lightweight Crew
Alexi Pappas (Alameda, Calif.), Sr, Women's Track
For the second time in three weeks, Pappas broke the Dartmouth record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase this past week when she ran a 9:58.41 at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif. That time ranks as the third-fastest in the nation this spring and is one of only three under the 10-minute mark among Division I runners. Her previous time of 10:07.58 set at Princeton on April 6 stood as the top time in the country for two weeks before falling this past weekend. Overall, Pappas has the three top times in Dartmouth history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
