BOSTON, Mass. – Dartmouth women's rowing returned to the water after five months away from action to open the spring season against No. 17 Harvard-Radcliffe and No. 1 Brown on the Charles River. The Big Green entered five boats in the event.
To start things off, Dartmouth took third in the Varsity 8+ (7:23.7), finishing behind Radcliffe (7:00.7) and Brown (6:51.1) and the three teams finished in the same order in the second Varsity 8+, with the Bears taking first (6:54.9), the Black and White following in second (7:09.2) and the Green completing the event in third (7:26.2).
In the Varsity 4+, Dartmouth edged Radcliffe with its time of 8:22.4 to finish in second place with an 8:18.7, while Brown remained on top in 7:59.4. The Big Green's fourth Varsity B crossed the line in 8:40.2, less than three seconds behind Brown's C boat (8:37.9).
In the final event of the day, the third Varsity 8+, Dartmouth was fourth (8:05.3), finishing 11 seconds behind Radcliffe's crew (7:54.3).
On Sunday, the Big Green will head to New York to face Northeastern, Syracuse and Rhode Island in the Doc Hosea Invite.
