GAME 2
Dartmouth Big Green (1-0) at
Army West Point Black Knights (0-1)
Friday, Sept. 9 – 4 p.m.
West Point, N.Y. – Anderson Rugby Complex
THE GAME
The Dartmouth women's rugby team heads to Army West Point for its first road test of the 2016 season on Friday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green opened the year with a 24-22 win at home against American International at Brophy Field on Saturday. A pair of second-half tries from freshman Becca Jane Rosko proved to be the difference as the home team held off a late-game surge from the Yellow Jackets to preserve the two-point victory.
LOOKING AT THE CADETS
Army fell, 32-19, in its season opener against Quinnipiac. A rematch of last year's varsity 15s national championship ended in similar fashion for the Black Knights as the Bobcats once again bested them. Army actually held a 19-17 lead at halftime, but three tries from QU in the final 40 minutes, while not allowing Army a point was what cost the home team the game.
AGAINST ARMY
Dartmouth and the Black Knights played a 7s game last spring with Army coming out on top 19-10, but they did not face each other during the 15s portion of the year.
KEYS TO THE MATCH FROM COACH DOWTY
Mindset: “We proved to ourselves last week that we can grit out a tough win and we are working on making that a habit.”
Attack: “While our defense has proved up to the task thus far, our attack is still coming together and we think we'll be able to play a much more unified attacking game tomorrow.”
Finish: “We created more opportunities to score last Saturday than we capitalized on. We're looking to put the finish on those chances and never leave their end without points.”
