NEW YORK, N.Y. – Playing in its first Ivy League road match since Sept. 29, the Dartmouth women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Columbia Saturday night. The Columbia goal came in the 37th minute.

The Big Green fall to 8-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the Ivy League, while Columbia improves to 7-6-1 and 3-2-0 in conference play.

Columbia began the match on the attack, earning three corner kicks and four shots in the first 21 minutes. Sophomore goalkeeper
Mariel Gordon made the first of her five saves in the 9th minute. That intensity would pay off for the Lions in the 37th minute when Emma Anderson found Jessica Schildkraut for her first goal of the season to give Columbia a 1-0 advantage.

Dartmouth looked for a quick answer in the 39th minute, but a shot from
Hayley Soriano was saved, keeping it 1-0 Columbia at halftime.

After the Lions opened the second half with two quick shots,
Grace Rorke put another ball on goal in the 62nd minute, but it was denied again by the keeper. Columbia closed out regulation with five more shots. Gordon kept the Big Green at a one goal deficit as she collected two saves in the final 27 minutes.

"Columbia is a good team and they scored a nice goal," said head coach
Ron Rainey. "Our challenge this week is to raise things to a higher level so we can do the little things to have success in an Ivy League game."

Dartmouth is back on Burnham Field on Saturday when they take on Harvard at 7 p.m. for its final home match of the season. The Big Green will celebrate senior night, as well as homecoming.
