HANOVER, N.H. – For the second year in a row, the Dartmouth women's rugby team will compete in the NIRA Final, taking on Harvard. The top two teams in the conference and the country will meet at Scully-Fahey Field at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18.
The top-seeded Big Green found themselves trailing, 7-5, at the end of the first half in their semifinal game against Army West Point (after
Ariana Ramsey scored her first collegiate try) but turned things around in the second. Tries scored by
Karina Martinez,
Ale Ada and
Emily Henrich and two conversions by
Camille Johnson gave Dartmouth a 26-7 edge. The Black Knights continued to play well, but could not get past the Green.
In the second semifinal match, No. 2 ranked Harvard took down third-seeded Quinnipiac, 47-8. The Crimson put up 18 unanswered points to start the game and, after a successful Bobcat kick, Harvard continued to pull further ahead. The Crimson controlled the entirety of second half scoring. They were led by Jenny Kronish with her 19 points. This is the first time in program history that Harvard has appeared in the championship final.
The game can be watched on ESPN+.
