WEDNESDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team heads back out on the road for a quick one-game bus trip to take on UAlbany Wednesday at 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green were off this past weekend, last playing against New Hampshire last Wednesday in the 2018 home opener. Things could not have gone any better for the team in white as they raced out to a 10-0 lead by halftime and finished with a 10-goal win for the second straight year against their Granite State rivals, 13-3.
SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES
• UAlbany has struggled out of the gate this season, starting the year 0-3.
• Road losses to Yale (12-10), No. 4 Syracuse (19-12) and Bryant (16-6) have dropped the team out of the top-25 national rankings that they were in during the preseason.
• Of the 111 Division I women's lacrosse teams, Albany ranks 95 in team defense, allowing 15.67 goals a game.
• Wednesday's game is the Great Danes' home opener and just the second contest in the all-time series with the Big Green outside of Hanover (2015).
• Emma Powlin leads the team in both goals (7) and points (8). Sam Tortora is the only player on the roster with multiple assists through three games and 28 goals scored, registering two.
• In goal, Erin Leghart has done most of the legwork with 143 minutes of action and a 16.02 goals against average to go along with her .309 save percentage.
AGAINST UALBANY
• Dartmouth has played the Great Danes six times and come away without the win in the last five.
• The lone win in the series was a 17-3 home win on March 10, 2005. The next time the teams squared off was in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament in Hanover with the Green and White dropping a 10-7 contest.
• In last season's game at Scully-Fahey Field, Elizabeth Mastrio, Kellen D'Alleva and Katie Bourque all scored twice in the game with Cara DePippo and Kierra Sweeney notching one goal each. The Great Danes got six markers and seven points from Sarah Martin and two scores from Dakotah Savitcheff, while Kenzie Neal came off the bench to pick up a hat trick and a four-point effort.
SIX IS NICE!
Katie Bourque had a career day against the Wildcats. Her three goals were one short of a career high, while her three assists bested her previous single-game best by two as she finished the game with six points.
NEARLY MATCHING HER SEASON TOTAL… IN A SINGLE GAME!
• Last season, Ellie Carson had just four goals and 10 points in 15 games played. Against UNH, the sophomore attacker found the back of the net four times and added an assist for a four-point day.
• Coupled with her two goals at UMass in the season opener, Carson has already surpassed her season output from 2017 in just two games in 2018.
TEAM DEFENSE
• Dartmouth allowed UNH just 12 total shot attempts in last week's game.
• The three goals allowed in the game were the fewest surrendered by the Big Green since an 18-2 win over UMass Lowell in the 2016 season opener.
• The performance also moved Dartmouth into a tie for 29th nationally in team defense (10.0).
