FRIDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team returns from its exams break to begin a four-game road trip Friday afternoon at Hofstra.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Big Green opened Ivy League play on March 3 with a 20-10 victory against Columbia.
• Campbell Brewer and Ellie Carson had career days with each scoring five goals in the victory. Carson added a pair of assists to finish with a game-high seven points, also a career high.
• The Green had scored 19 goals five previous times against Columbia, but set a new mark in the series with the Lions when they hit 20 with 12:28 remaining in the second half. It marked the sixth time in program history that Dartmouth had scored 20 goals in an Ivy League game and the first since 2007.
• In all, the home squad got two goals from Larsen Bennett, Kierra Sweeney and Katie Bourque. Hitting the back of the net once in the game was Elizabeth Mastrio, Kathryn Giroux, Katie O'Neill and Tori Chanenchuk. For Chanenchuck, her goal with 8:47 remaining in the opening half was the first of her career.
SCOUTING THE PRIDE
• Hofstra welcomes Dartmouth to Hempstead with a .500 record through six games this season.
• Though the Pride have played six times, only two have come at home at Shuart Stadium with both coming last month against Bucknell (W, 13-1) and Fairfield (L, 13-12).
• Sophomore Alyssa Parrella leads the team with 31 points and 22 goals. Parrella has multiple tallies in every game this season with two games of four and a six-goal game against Fairfield.
• She leads the nation in shots per game at 7.83.
• Maddie Fields has been the goalkeeper of record in every game this season and boasts a 9.98 goals against average to go along with a .496 save percentage.
AGAINST HOFSTRA
• Dartmouth and Hofstra have met only one previous time: April 14, 2014.
• In the final home game of the season, the Pride made two late-game defensive stops against the Big Green attack to preserve a 9-8 Hofstra win in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
• Jaclyn Leto and Sarah Byrne led the home team with three goals each in the loss.
OUTSIDE THE TOP-10
• Thanks to another big offensive game, Carson is now tied for 11th in the nation in goals per game, averaging 4.0 scores per contest.
• She ranks third in the Ivy League behind a pair of Harvard players averaging 4.20 each (Julia Glynn and Keeley MacAfee).
SCORING GOALS
• The 20 goals scored against Columbia certainly helped Dartmouth move up the national rankings for offense.
• The Big Green are 23rd in the country with 14.5 goals per game this year.
• As impressive as that is, it only ranks fourth in the Ivy League as Harvard (16.0), Brown (15.33) and Penn (14.67) are ahead of the Green and White, demonstrating the strength of the Ancient Eight in 2018.
KEEPING GOALS OUT
• If the offense has been good, the defense has been better.
• Dartmouth is 16th nationally in scoring defense so far this year, holding opponents to an average of 9.50 goals per game.
• Only Penn (7.67) is ahead of the Big Green amongst the Ivy programs as the Quakers are third in the country.
HELPIN' OUT
• Thanks to her three assists against the Lions, Chanenchuk now leads all Ivy players in assists per game with 2.25 this season.
• That figure ranks as the 17th-best mark in the nation to this point.
IN NET
• Sophomore Kiera Vrindten is second in the conference in goals against average, boasting a figure of 9.07.
• Her .441 save percentage is fifth, while her saves (26) and saves per game (6.50) figures are the second-lowest in the league thanks in large part to the defense in front of her limiting the opposition's shot totals.
