MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Five members of the Dartmouth women's rugby team were honored by the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) as All-Americans for the 2018 season.
Idia Ihensekhien,
Milla Anderson,
Kat Ramage,
Camille Johnson and
Emily Henrich were all named to the first team.
"We are thrilled to see these five acknowledged for their performance throughout the season," head coach
Katie Dowty said. "They are all fierce competitors and played a huge role in our journey to the national championship. Every athlete on this list was dominant in their position this season, in a league that is more and more competitive every year. These players have been pivotal in raising the level of competition between our NCAA programs and moving the game forward as an NCAA emerging sport."
After being an honorable mention honoree last year, Ihensekhien moved up to the first team as a sophomore. She ended the fall tied for ninth on the team with 15 points from three ties, her first two coming in the 98-7 win over Brown (9/15).
Anderson appeared on this list for the second time in a row after ending her senior year tied for seventh with a career-high 20 points, which came from four tries. She scored twice (a personal record) in the 53-17 victory over AIC (10/6), while her other two tries came in wins against Harvard (9/22) and Brown (11/10).
Being named to the first team for the third consecutive season, Ramage ended her career tied for fourth with 30 points from a pair of tries and 10 conversions, the latter of which was good for second among the Big Green. She had a season-high 10 points from five good kicks in the 40-22 defeat of Quinnipiac (9/8).
Johnson, the Big Green's captain in 2018, exploded onto the scene as a senior, rounding out her career second in tries (10) and first in both conversions (25) and points (100). She kicked off the year by helping Dartmouth defeat Notre Dame College (9/2) by a score of 76-5, ending the game with an impressive 32 points from four tries and six conversions. She also had a 25-point performance in the NIRA Quarterfinal win over Brown (11/10).
Henrich wrapped up her first year in Hanover first in tries (11), third in conversions (9) and second in points (73). In the win over Brown (9/15), she had 27 points from three tries and six conversions. In the middle of her first collegiate season, she was named to the Women's National Team roster ahead of the November Internationals.
The Big Green had their best season to date in 2018, defeating Harvard to win their first NIRA National Championship title in program history back in November. Johnson was named the Most Valuable Player at the conclusion of the game.
