HANOVER, N.H. – Former Dartmouth hockey players
Carl Hesler '18 and
River Rymsha '18 have signed pro contracts for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
It was announced last week that Rymsha had signed with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL after finishing out his college hockey eligibility as a graduate student at Miami (Ohio) last winter.
Hesler begins his post-Dartmouth playing career with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL) on a professional try-out (PTO). The elder Hesler brother capped his career in 2018-19 alongside younger brother Sam '22.
Over four seasons, Hesler was a two-time captain, wearing both the 'C' and 'A' in his time with the Big Green. He finished his career having played 128 games in a Dartmouth sweater, a figure that ranks 10th in the 115-year history of the program. In those games, the Massachusetts native scored 21 goals and dished out 31 helpers for 52 career points.
Hesler began playing with Rochester during the team's training camp this week.
Rymsha capped his three seasons in Dartmouth in 2018, graduating from the College before moving on to Miami to pursue a graduate degree. In 63 games played for the Green and White, Rymsha scored three goals and had eight points. He took on a more offensive role in Oxford in 2018-19, scoring four goals and boasting nine points, while finishing his career with 99 games played between the two programs.
Rochester is the top affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, while Norfolk is the ECHL affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes.
