IVY WEEKEND
Dartmouth ends its four-game road swing at Penn and Princeton this weekend. First up is Penn at The Palestra Friday night at 7 PM, followed by Princeton, who is unbeaten in the Ivy League, at 6 PM on Saturday. The Big Green are looking to stay hot after winning their last game.
FRIDAY NIGHT AT COLUMBIA
- Dartmouth was once again doomed by a shaky opening quarter and ended up falling to Columbia, 73-63.
- The Big Green fell behind 10-0 after the first four minutes and finished the first quarter down 18-8.
- The game came down to the difference at the free throw line. Columbia shot 18-of-21, while Dartmouth was 4-of-6.
- The Big Green had four players in double figures led by Jimena Abejon's 15 points.
- Katie Douglas notched 14 points, three rebounds and a career-high three steals.
- Annie McKenna and Anna Luce each tallied 10 points. McKenna added four assists and three rebounds, while Luce collected five boards.
- Elle Louie finished with seven points and Veronica Kelly had five points and five rebounds.
SATURDAY NIGHT AT CORNELL
- The Big Green erased a 10-point deficit with under eight minutes left in the fourth quarter and Elle Louie scored the winning basket with 17 seconds left to defeat Cornell, 67-65.
- Dartmouth trailed 60-50 with 7:07 left and closed the gap with baskets by Lenart, Abejon and Douglas to tie the game at 65 with 36 seconds to go.
- Louie took it upon herself to blow past her defender and finish at the rim for the game-winning bucket with 17 seconds on the clock.
- Anna Luce led Dartmouth's five double-digit scorers with 16 points.
- Louie and McKenna each finished with 11 points, McKenna added five assists.
- Douglas and Abejon both tallied 10 points.
- Paula Lenart was the key for Dartmouth with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds, five of them on the offensive end.
MULTIPLE SCORERS
- Dartmouth had at least four double-digit scorers in both games this past weekend at Columbia and Cornell.
- Five scored at least 10 points in the win at Cornell, that was the first time since the 2017-18 season against Brown on January 27.
- The Big Green nearly had five double-figure scorers at Columbia as Louie finished with seven points.
- And almost had six in double digits as Lenart was one shy with nine.
SHAKING IT UP
- Coach Belle Koclanes went with two different starting lineups in New York.
- Due to an injury to Asha Taylor (not a bad one), Anna Luce made her way back into the starting five in both games.
- Luce has earned it, the junior has scored at least 10 points in three consecutive games, which is the longest streak of double digit scoring in her career.
- The emergence of Jimena Abejon earned her a spot with the starters in Saturday's contest for the first time in the sophomore's career.
- Seemingly out of nowhere, Abejon has scored 10, 15 and 10 points in the last three games.
- Abejon is shooting 56% (13-of-23) over the last three games and set career highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals and made field goals this past weekend.
SCOUTING PENN
- Since dropping its first two Ivy League games, Penn has won five straight and enters the weekend with a 15-5 record.
- The Quakers are fourth in the Ivy League in scoring (68.9 ppg) and second in scoring defense (54.4 ppg).
- Freshman Kayla Padilla leads the Ivy League in scoring (18.3 ppg) and has nine 20-plus games including a career-high 27 against Princeton.
- Eleah Parker is second on the team with 11.8 ppg and leads the team with 7.5 rpg.
- Phoebe Sterba scores 11.1 ppg and grabs 4.8 rpg.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE QUAKERS
- These teams have faced each other 83 times dating back to 1979 and Dartmouth holds a 43-40 record over Penn.
- Just like against Princeton, Dartmouth commanded the series through the first 31 years with a 42-22 record.
- Penn holds a 17-1 record since 2011.
- The last Big Green win in the series was in 2014 at home.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
- Princeton has been rolling this season and comes into Friday with a 19-1 record and has won 15 in a row.
- The Tigers are currently ranked No. 25 in the latest AP Top-25 Poll.
- Princeton's only blemish this season came at Iowa in a 77-75 overtime loss.
- The Tigers are is 2-1 against Power Five opponents and has been ranked as high as No. 24 in the nation and is currently receiving votes in both the AP and Coaches polls.
- Princeton has the third-best scoring offense in the league (70.0 ppg) and boast the best defense (47.6 ppg).
- Back-to-back Ivy Player of the Year Bella Alarie is the league's second leading scorer at 17.2 ppg, third with 8.4 rpg and tied for first with 2.5 bpg.
- Carlie Littlefield averages 14.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg and 3.4 apg.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE TIGERS
- In 83 games dating back to 1977, Dartmouth leads the all-time series over Princeton, 44-39.
- The Big Green dominated the Tigers in the first 62 games going 43-19 over that span.
- Since 2010, the Tigers have completely flipped the switch and are 20-1 over Dartmouth.
- That one win came in the final game of the 2016-17 season where Dartmouth won 58-56.
