THIS WEEKEND
It's alumnae weekend for Dartmouth women's basketball as the Big Green host Brown and Yale. The Big Green host the Bears Friday night at 6 p.m. and take on the Bulldogs for their Play4Kay Pink Game for breast cancer awareness on Saturday at 4 p.m.
FRIDAY NIGHT VS. PRINCETON
- Dartmouth is coming off a tough weekend against Princeton and Penn, the Ivy League's top two teams over the past decade.
- On Friday, the Big Green fell 66-34 to Princeton despite leading after the first quarter.
- Dartmouth got off to a hot start and led 14-8 through the first nine minutes before the Tigers made it a one-point game after one.
- Princeton then showed why they are receiving votes in the top-25 polls and outscored Dartmouth 53-20 the rest of the way.
- Kealy Brown finished with 11 points, seven coming in the first quarter, and seven rebounds.
- Paula Lenart matched the game high with eight boards.
- Princeton's Bella Alarie led all scorers with 23 and grabbed eight rebounds.
SATURDAY NIGHT VS. PENN
- The Big Green then fell 66-33 to Penn Saturday night in Hanover.
- Allie Harland gave the Leede Arena crowd a spark by scoring 10 points in the final five minutes of the game.
- Veronica Kelly grabbed 11 rebounds.
- Penn went on a 29-0 run over 11 minutes in the first half to put the game out of reach.
- Kayla Padilla, the Ivy League's leading scorer, finished with 15 points. Eleah Parker put together a 14-point, 16-rebound double-double.
MCKENNA'S MOVING UP
- Annie McKenna is climbing up Dartmouth's all-time lists and is knocking on the door of the top-10 in a couple categories.
- McKenna dished out seven assists this past weekend, giving her 244 career helpers. She is only five assists away from passing Courtney Banghart '00 for 10th all time.
- Next on the list is McKenna's former teammate, Cy Lippold '19, who has 269 career assists.
- McKenna is up to 82 career made 3-point field goals, which currently has her tied with current assistant coach Lakin Roland '16 for 14th all time.
STRONG PERFORMANCES
- Allie Harland came into the game against Penn and dropped 10 points in the final five minutes.
- She did it on 4-of-5 shooting and went 2-of-2 from 3-point land. It was the first double-digit scoring game for the freshman.
- She was the only member of the Big Green to score in double figures and she grabbed a pair of rebounds.
- Veronica Kelly pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds against Penn in 29 minutes of action.
- Kelly grabbed six offensive boards and five defensive while adding five points and a blocked shot.
SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown is on a four-game losing streak and enters Friday night with a 6-11 record and is the only winless team in the Ivy League at 0-4.
- The Bears actually play better on the road (5-6) than they do on their home court (1-4).
- Brown is sixth in the Ivy League in scoring with 61.8 ppg and last in points allowed at 70.7 ppg.
- The Bears are the second-best free throw shooting team in the league by percentage (69.8%).
- Justine Gaziano is the fourth-leading scorer in the conference (16.4 ppg).
- McKenna Dale also averages double figures (10.2 ppg).
- Ashley Ducharme leads the team in rebounds (5.3 rpg).
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BEARS
- In 87 games dating back to 1978, Dartmouth leads the all-time series over Brown, 59-28.
- This year's senior class has never lost to Brown, going 6-0 since the 2016-17 season. Being a fifth-year senior, Kealy Brown is 7-1 against the Bears.
- Since 2000, the Big Green hold a 28-13 advantage over Brown.
SCOUTING YALE
- Yale is riding high on an eight-game winning streak and has started Ivy League play 4-0 to enter the weekend with a 14-3 record.
- The Bulldogs started their streak against Mercer, where Cy Lippold '19 is an assistant coach, and followed that up with their biggest win in recent memory over North Carolina, who is led by Courtney Banghart '00.
- Yale owns the highest scoring average in the Ivy League (75.0 ppg), but allows 65.4 ppg, which is seventh in the conference.
- Roxy Barahman is the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week and is the third leading scorer in the conference (16.9 ppg).
- Camilla Emsbo is fifth in the conference in scoring (15.4 ppg), second in rebounding (8.8 rpg), first in field goal percentage (57.4) and third in blocked shots (2.2 bpg).
- Elle Margaret Andrews also scores in double figures (14.1 ppg).
- Yale plays Harvard Friday night before heading to Hanover.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
- Dartmouth leads Yale 54-30 in the all-time series dating back to 1974.
- The Big Green hold a narrow, 21-19, record over the Bulldogs since 2000.
- But Dartmouth is 4-16 against Yale since 2010.
