Dartmouthsports.com will be recognizing the senior student-athletes who had their spring seasons canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior… Kiera Vrindten of women's lacrosse.
Â
Â
DartmouthSports.com: What is your favorite place on campus?
Kiera Vrindten: Top of the Hop outside patio.
Â
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
KV: I would swap places with
Polly Carter just because our majors and the classes we've taken are so different. I would be super interested in seeing how the day in the life of an artist in BVAC goes.
Â
DS: What has been your best on-field memory thus far in your Dartmouth career?
KV: There have been so many unforgettable moments wearing the green jersey, but I have to say one of the most incredible on-field memories was winning a share of the Ivy League regular season when we solidified the win against Yale during the 2019 season. Our team had worked incredibly hard all year to get to that point in time and it was just incredible to see all our hard work and focus during the season pay off.
Â
DS: How is Hanover different or similar to where you grew up?
KV: Hanover is definitely a little different than Warren, New Jersey. The isolation of Dartmouth campus in the heart of New England is something I wasn't used to growing up in a suburb near NYC. And for one, it's a lot smaller too where everything is pretty much in walking distance. But, regardless, all these differences make Dartmouth and Hanover such a unique and social place for me. It's a major reason why I chose to go here four years ago.
Â
DS: What are your post-Dartmouth plans?
KV: I plan to take a gap-year or two working in the clinical research field before applying to medical school. I am fascinated with orthopedics at the moment and would see it as a dream if my future career incorporated both medicine and sports.
Â
DS: What is your hidden talent or something that someone might not know about you?
KV: I've never broken a bone (and hope I never will!!).
Â
DS: Do you have a nickname on your team? Who gave it to you and why?
KV: I do have a nickname on my team and it even carries over into my personal and academic life as a student. Almost everyone calls me "Tin", short for Vrindten (how the ending of my last name is pronounced rather than spelt). Not too much who actually gave it to me... or if I gave it to myself to be honest just to distinguish me from now graduated
Kierra Sweeney '19 at the time, but it has pretty much stuck with me for my whole career here at Dartmouth. I sometimes make it a joke on occasion to check in with people to make sure they actually know my real name lol.
Â
DS: What are you going to miss most about Dartmouth after you graduate?
KV: I'm going to miss the close-knit community that Dartmouth has amongst its students and faculty. We're a very small school compared to various other universities, which makes it special when you know a good number of people in your classes and you see familiar faces everywhere you go. That isn't something that'll be guaranteed wherever I may end up next.
