HANOVER, N.H. – Seven members of the Dartmouth women's rugby team were named to the 2021-22 All-NIRA Teams.
Lilly Durbin,
Lauren Ferridge,
Emily Henrich,
Idia Ihensekhien and
Abbey Savin were selected to the First Fifteen, while
Kristin Bitter and
Sophia Haley were Honorable Mention.
After injuries took her out of the game for the last three years, Durbin came back in a big way as a fifth year, leading the team with 75 points and 15 tries and tying her career-highs from freshman year. She had a pair of four-try performances throughout the season.
Ferridge ended her junior year with a personal best 15 points from a trio of tries, adding three assists on there. She scored in the games against LIU, Sacred Heart and Harvard.
Having not played since her freshman season, Henrich ended her senior year third in points (60), second in tries (9) and tied for first in assists (14). Her best game came against Sacred Heart, where she had 15 points from two tries, a conversion and a penalty kick.
Returning for her fifth year, Ihensekhien recorded six tries and one assist for 30 points. She scored in the games against the Pioneers, the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers, the Crimson and the Black Knights. After her two tries in the NIRA Final against Army, she was named MVP.
Savin had an incredible first year, finishing second in points (73) and first in conversions (34). She had four double digit point performances and had a season-best 21 in the first game of the season against LIU from nine conversions and one penalty kick. The sophomore also scored one try in the game against Brown.
Bitter had a good year, wrapping things up fourth with 32 points from four tries and 16 conversions. She had a season-high 14 points in the NIRA semifinal against Brown, scoring two tries and adding a pair of good kicks.
Making it onto the honorable mention team for the second time, Haley ended her senior year with 10 points from two tries and a pair of assists. Her tries came in the games against Quinnipiac and Brown.
The Big Green had an outstanding year, going undefeated for the first time in program history and winning the NIRA National Championship for the second time.
