HANOVER, N.H. –The Dartmouth men's hockey team hosted McGill University on Wednesday evening in a scrimmage at Thompson Arena. The Big Green won by a score of 3-0.
Cam MacDonald,
Mark Gallant, and
Sean Chisholm scored the goals for the Big Green. Six different players recorded an assist:
Josh Waters,
Sean Keohan,
Jack Cameron,
Nick Unruh,
Ian Pierce and
Joey Musa. Dartmouth utilized three different goaltenders tonight as
Cooper Black,
Troy Burkhart and
Mikey Roberts combined for a 25-save shutout.
Alexis Shank made 29 saves in net for the Redbirds.
MacDonald jumped on an opportunity late in the opening period. The puck was loose around the front of goal and MacDonald made no mistake from right in front to put it in the net to give the Big Green a 1-0 lead.
Midway through the second period, Gallant's initial shot was saved but the second effort was a low shot tucked into the bottom left corner past the McGill goaltender to put Dartmouth up 2-0. The Big Green added to their lead inside the opening five minutes of the third period with a power play goal. With the 5v4 advantage, Pierce fired a shot towards goal that was redirected by Chisholm into the net.
Dartmouth plays one final tune-up on October 21 against the University of Guelph at Thompson Arena before opening the season with an ECAC Hockey matchup at Harvard on Friday, October 28.
