CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Dartmouth women's rugby won a total of seven games between the A and B squads at the Ivy 7s Championship at Mignone Field on Saturday. The A team made it to the final, narrowly falling to the host in the finale, 24-17.
On the A side, four players scored multiple tries, being led by
Ava Procter with 20 points from four. On the B side, Adrienne Coleman also had four tries to lead the charge.
"We have made huge strides since our first 7s outing earlier in April," head coach
Katie Dowty said. "Both sides were attacking space well throughout the day and scored some spectacular tries. Our second side played brilliantly all day, winning the bowl championship with a comeback victory in the final versus Columbia.
"In the varsity bracket, we were dealt two yellow cards in the final," Dowty continued. "The grit and passion the team played with in response kept us within striking distance – an incredible feat that says a lot about the determination of this group. We will take that fire and some invaluable lessons from today into the upcoming Collegiate National 7s Championship in three weeks."
The Big Green will head to Atlanta, Georgia, for the USA Rugby Collegiate 7s Championship from May 14-15.
