Both Big Green goals came in the final 2:30 of the game

HANOVER, N.H. – Izee Powell and Kenzie Bachelor both scored late in the contest, but the Dartmouth women's hockey team fell to No. 7 Cornell, 4-2, in ECAC Hockey and Ivy League action on Saturday afternoon at Thompson Arena.

The Big Green fall to 2-7-1 overall and 1-7-1 in ECAC Hockey. The Big Red improve to 10-0-1 overall with a 6-0-0 league record.

Dartmouth scored its goals late in the third period, with both coming in the final 2:30 of play. Powell scored the first one of the night on a power play with 17:32 remaining in the game. Laura Fuoco passed it back to the blue line to Powell, who ripped a shot that sailed through the Cornell defense and into the back of the net for her third goal of the season.

The Big Green scored an extra attacker goal with roughly 17 seconds remaining as Bachelor netted her second goal of the year. After Lauren Messier won the faceoff, Bachelor fired a shot that was deflected in front by Vanessa Stamper that went wide of the goal. Stamper picked up the loose puck off the boards and passed it back into the middle to Bachelor, who immediately shot it from the left faceoff circle through traffic and past Cornell goaltender Deanna Fraser into the net.

After a scoreless first period, the Big Red opened the scoring early in the second when Izzy Daniel tallied her first goal of the night. Lily Delianedis scored later in the period with a power play goal to push the lead to two.

Cornell scored two goals less than a minute apart midway through the final frame to bring the lead to four. The first was a power play goal from Ashley Messier, her first goal of the season, followed by a second goal from Daniel.

The Big Green blocked 20 shots, led by Jenna Donohue and Tiffany Hill, who had three blocks each.

Dartmouth return to action in two weeks against Penn State for a pair of non-conference tilts at Thompson Arena. The Big Green take on the Nittany Lions on Friday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. puck drop the next day. Both games will be available to stream nationally on ESPN+ and internationally on Stretch Internet.
