HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth head men's basketball coach
David McLaughlin announced the Big Green's 2023-24 schedule on Monday, which begins with a showdown at Duke on Monday, Nov. 6. Among the nonleague highlights are also games at Saint Louis of the Atlantic 10 and Vanderbilt of the SEC. The home opener will feature a strong mid-major opponent in UMass Lowell. Dartmouth's first four Division I opponents combined for a 95-40 record last season, all eclipsing 20 wins.
The Big Green will face six teams with 20+ wins last season (Duke, UMass Lowell, Saint Louis, Vermont, Vanderbilt and Princeton). Dartmouth's 10 nonleague opponents who played a Division I schedule last season averaged 17.8 wins, going 178-147.
The season opens with
the first-ever meeting between Dartmouth and Duke on Monday, Nov. 6 at historic Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils have won five NCAA Championships and reached 17 Final Fours, most recently in 2022.
Four days later, the Big Green host UMass Lowell on Friday, Nov. 10 in their home opener. The Riverhawks finished last season 26-8. After a home matchup vs. Westfield State on Wednesday, Nov. 15, Dartmouth hits the road for three straight — at Saint Louis (Saturday, Nov. 25), Vermont (Wednesday, Nov. 29) and UAlbany (Saturday, Dec. 2). Both Saint Louis and Vermont won 20+ games last season, with Saint Louis reaching the Atlantic 10 semifinals and Vermont winning the America East regular season and tournament titles to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
A three-game homestand features games against New Hampshire (Wednesday, Dec. 6), Marist (Saturday, Dec. 9) and Boston University (Wednesday, Dec. 13). Three of the final four nonleague games are on the road, capped off by a matchup at Vanderbilt on Saturday, Dec. 30. The Commodores made the quarterfinals of the NIT last March.
The Ivy League opener is set for Saturday, Jan. 6 at Penn. The Big Green will face each member of the Ivy League twice, one home and one away. As part of the Ivy slate, Dartmouth will play four straight home games, facing Yale (Saturday, Jan. 20), Brown (Saturday, Jan. 27), Cornell (Friday, Feb. 2) and Columbia (Saturday, Feb. 3).
Three of the final five games will be in the friendly confines of Leede Arena, with the season wrapping up at home vs. Harvard for a second straight season on Saturday, Mar. 9.
The top four teams in the Ivy League standings will advance to Ivy Madness, set for Saturday, Mar. 16 and Sunday, Mar. 17 at Columbia's Levien Gymnasium.
Each home game, in addition to all road Ivy League games, will be streamed live on ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all contests via DartmouthSports.com.
