HANOVER, N.H.—Dartmouth men's tennis hosted Boston College, Fairfield, and Buffalo for the second Dartmouth Invite this weekend.
Day One
Singles
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez notched the first win of the weekend for the Big Green as he won his first match 7-6, 6-2 on Friday.
Miles Groom started his weekend strong with a three set win. He fell 7-6 in the first set but forced a third set with a 6-1win in the second set. In the tiebreaker he won 11-9 to secure the win.
Alex Knox-Jones opened his weekend with a sweep as he won 6-1, 6-2 over a player from Fairfield.
Danny Bao earned a three set win in his first match. He won the opening set 6-3 but fell 6-4 in the second set. He won the match with a 10-8 win in the third set.
Xander Barber won his first set of the weekend 6-1 but fell 6-0 in the second set. He won the tiebreaker 10-4 for the match win.
Leo Pade kept the Big Green's winning ways going as he won 6-2, 6-2 to start his weekend.
Hikaru Takeda dropped just one game in his first match of the weekend. He won his opening set 6-1 and swept the second set 6-0 to secure a win.
Doubles
Groom and Qadir won the first doubles match of the weekend as they won 6-4 over a team from Boston College to close out Friday.
Day Two
Doubles
The second day started with doubles. Yujiro Onuma and Barber notched the first doubles win on Saturday with a 6-0 win over a team from Fairfield. The duo faced another team from Fairfield later in the day and downed the Stags 6-4 for their second win of the day.
Guerrero Alvarez and Bao faced a team from Fairfield. The Big Green came away with a 6-4 win over the Stags. Later in the day, the duo defeated a team from Boston College 6-3 for their second win of the day.
Singles
Pade opened Saturday singles with a straight win over a player from Fairfield. He won the opening set 7-5 and secured the win with a 6-3 win in the second set.
Bao also opened his day with a singles match against Fairfield, he won the first set 6-1 and then took the win with a 6-3 win in the second set.
Guerrero Alvarez took on a member of Boston College. Guerrero Alvarez fell 6-4 in the first set but forced a third set with a 6-2 win. In the third set he dominated 10-1 for the win.
Yujiro Onuma picked up his first win with a three set win over Huang from Buffalo. Onuma won the first set 6-1 but fell 6-4 in the second set. Onuma secured the match win with a 10-7 win in the third set.
In the afternoon, Barber swept Saltz on Boston College with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Knox-Jones closed out Saturday with a three set win. He fell 7-5 in the first set but responded with a 6-3 win in the second set. He won the match with a 10-3 third set win.
Day Three
Doubles
Groom and Qadir teamed up for the first Dartmouth win on Sunday. The duo defeated a Buffalo pair 6-2.
Knox-Jones and Pade then secured the final doubles win of the weekend with a 6-1 win over a team from Boston College.
Singles
Onuma opened the final day of singles with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Malkin of Buffalo.
Guerrero Alvarez won his final match of the weekend in straight sets. He won the opening set over Snaiders of Buffalo 7-6 and closed out his weekend with a 6-3 win.
Groom faced Gao of Boston College in his final match of the weekend. Groom won both sets 6-2 and won his final match of the weekend.
Zihao Yaun faced off with Whittington of Fairfield on Sunday. Yaun won in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
Takeda closed out his weekend with a straight set win. He won the opening set 6-3 and won the match with a 6-4 win.
Bao closed out his weekend with a two set win. He won the first set 6-3 and closed it out with a 6-4 win.
Knox-Jones won the final match of the weekend. He fell 6-1 in the first set and the won the second set 6-1. He secured the win with a 10-7 win in the third set.
The Big Green are back in action on Thursday Oct. 17 in Cambridge as they take part in the ITA New England Regional.
