Â
FRIDAY NIGHT HOCKEY
The Dartmouth men's hockey team travels to the Boston area on Friday evening for a matchup against travel partner Harvard.
Â
THREE MORE POINTS
The Big Green hit the road for matchups at Princeton and No. 7 Quinnipiac last weekend. Dartmouth picked up three points on Friday evening after an exciting 5-1 victory over the Tigers at Hobey Baker Rink.
Luke Haymes scored his first collegiate hat trick, becoming the first Dartmouth player to score three goals in a game in nearly four years.
Matt Fusco opened the scoring in the game with his first career goal while
Tucker McRae also lit the lamp.
Â
The Bobcats picked up the win over the Big Green the following night at M&T Bank Arena. Haymes scored once again, bringing his season total to 11 and his eighth over the last five games.
Â
ECAC HOCKEY FORWARD OF THE WEEK
Haymes was named the ECAC Hockey Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels. He's the first Big Green player to be named Forward of the Week this season and it's the sixth weekly award for Dartmouth this season.
Â
WALTER BROWN AWARD SEMIFINALIST
On Monday,
Cooper Black was named a semifinalist for the 72nd Walter Brown Award, presented annually to best American-born Division I college hockey player in New England.
Â
PLAYOFF SEEDING UP FOR GRABS
With seven league games remaining, the Big Green currently sit on 19 points and are ninth in the ECAC Hockey standings. Dartmouth and St. Lawrence both have 19 points, but the Saints currently own the tiebreaker, which puts them in the eight spot.
Â
Home ice in the first round is still up for grabs as well as a top four spot to earn a first-round bye. Just nine points separates fourth-place Clarkson (23) and last place Princeton (14).
Â
Dartmouth, Harvard, Brown and Yale play just one league game this weekend while the remaining eight will play two games this weekend, which could paint a clearer playoff picture with just three weekends of the regular season left to go.
Â
SCOUTING HARVARD
Harvard enters Friday's game with a 4-14-3 overall record and a 4-8-3 record in ECAC Hockey. The Crimson recently played Northeastern in the semifinals of the Beanpot on Monday evening, falling to the Huskies in overtime, 3-2. Their last league tilt came against No. 7 Quinnipiac this past Friday, which ended in a 2-1 defeat.
Â
Ryan Healey leads Harvard in scoring with an 8-12-20 scoring line. Joe Miller has a team-high 10 goals and sits second in assists with nine, tied with Cam Johnson. The Crimson have blocked 255 shots this season, led by Mason Langenbrunner's 28.
Â
Derek Mullahy and Aku Koskenvuo have split the majority of minutes in goal this season for Harvard. They have combined to make 631 saves this year to go with a .903 save percentage.
Â
The Big Green are 65-146-14 all-time against the Crimson. The two teams skated to a 1-1 tie in the season opener back in late October with Harvard winning the shootout.
Braiden Dorfman tallied the Big Green midway through the third to tie the game and send it to overtime.
