MIDWEEK MATCH UPS CONTINUE
The Big Green will play one more game at home before returning to Ivy League play this weekend on the road against Harvard. Dartmouth will welcome Siena to Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park on Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch, looking to avenge last year's loss to the Saints.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth hosted Brown over the weekend for their second straight home weekend series, hoping to pick up important Ivy League wins. The Big Green did just that, sweeping the series with the Bears and capping the weekend with a thrilling, come from behind walk off victory.
Â
In game one of the series, the Bears for out to a 2-0 lead that they maintained into the fourth inning.
Kolton Freeman got the Big Green within one run on a solo home run before they were able to take the lead in their half of the fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of
Tyler Robinson. The Big Green and Bears each traded a run, but the Big Green came away with the 5-3 victory.
Â
The Bears opened the scoring in game two of the series, however the Big Green battled at the plate en route to a 6-2 victory.
Taer Rodriguez tied the game at one when he hit his first home run as a member of the Big Green. Dartmouth then loaded the bases and took the lead when
Nathan Cmeyla walked. Robinson and
Elliot Krewson each collected RBI singles to put the Big Green up by four as they cruised to a 6-2 victory.
Â
The thriller of the series came in the final game when the Big Green scored eight unanswered runs in the final three innings to defeat the Bears, 10-9. This time, the Big Green opened the scoring first, opening an 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Krewson single. The Bears, however, found offensive fire power, scoring nine runs to lead 9-2 into the seventh inning.
Â
Zackarie Casebonne got the scoring started in the seventh, singling with the bases loaded to score one run and sparking a Big Green comeback. They kept the bases loaded, scoring five straight runs, and coming within one run on walks or hit by pitches. They tied the game when Krewson grounded out. Both teams were kept off the board in the eighth inning and despite having a runner in scoring position in the ninth, Brown was unable to score the go-ahead run.
Â
Freeman led off the Big Green's half of the ninth inning with a single and again with the bases loaded, Casebonne made the Bears pay, recording another single to score Freeman and win the game for the Big Green.
Â
SCOUTING SIENA
The Saints, who sit at 5-26 overall, are on a seven-game losing streak, collecting their last win over MAAC opponent Quinnipiac. They will look to build some positive momentum in the midweek match up with the Big Green.
Â
Despite only five wins on the season, the Saints have multiple players with offensive power. Austin Rachiele ranks third on the team with a .293 batting average but leads the team with 24 RBI and is tied for the team lead with seven home runs. Siena has three more players with 20 or more RBI and four more players with more than five long balls.
Â
On the mound, the Saints have two pitchers that have each made nine starts, Alistair Morin and Billy Rozakis. The two have combined for 77 innings pitched, 105 hits, 49 walks and 70 strikeouts. Arnad Mulamekic has made six starts for the Saints but also made four relief appearances.
Â
Noah Rodriguez is the Saints most used relief pitcher, having thrown 22.1 innings in 12 appearances. He is third on the team with a 6.04 ERA and has walked ten and struck out 14.
Â
