HANOVER, N.H. - The Big Green welcomed the Princeton Tigers to Hanover Saturday to play the first two games of the series and begin their final Ivy League home series.
Despite the Big Green coming back to tie game one and pushing runs across in the ninth, their last stitch efforts were not enough, dropping both games to the Tigers.
With the losses, the Big Green fall to 11-22 overall and 6-11 in Ivy League Play and will look to get back in the win column when the two teams wrap up the series Sunday.
GAME 1 | Princeton 14, Dartmouth 5
The Big Green came from behind once to tie the game and pushed two runs across in the ninth, but the Tigers held Dartmouth at bay en route to a 14-5 victory.
The Big Green were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Dartmouth plated two runs when senior Robinson left the yard with Camden Rush aboard. The Tigers then immediately retook the lead, scoring the next six runs before the Big Green were able to get back on the board.
In the sixth inning, Max Zajec scored one run on his RBI single, making the score 8-3 in favor of the Tigers. Princeton would add another six runs, leading the Big Green 14-3 headed into the final frame.
Taer Rodriguez squeezed a bases clearing double down the right field line to score two runs in the ninth but the Big Green were not able to put any more runs on the board, dropping game one of the series, 14-5.
Mac Burke got the ball to start for Dartmouth and took the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings pitched. Tyler Cortland got the final two outs of the fifth inning but gave up two runs on three hits.
Brady Chappell and Joseph Chambers each pitched two innings of relief to close out the game for the Big Green. The four pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts on the day.

GAME 2 | Princeton 11, Dartmouth 3
The Tigers picked up right where they left off in game one, opening a seven run lead before the Big Green were able to get on the board, cruising to an 11-3 victory.
Marco Dumsky got the start for the Big Green and despite giving up two runs in the first inning, settled down as the game went on, keeping the Tigers off the scoreboard for the next three innings. Princeton would add five more runs through the middle three innings, getting out to a seven run lead.
The Big Green first got on the mound in their half of the sixth inning when Kolton Freeman ripped a home run to left field. The Tigers immediately responded though, adding four runs headed into the ninth inning.
Dartmouth hoped for more late heroics, getting the first three batters on base and pushing two runs home, but three straight outs stunted any further comeback, securing the 11-3 victory for the Tigers.
Dumsky allowed only three runs on seven hits in four innings pitched for the Big Green, fanning six batters but taking the loss. Danny Will pitched the next three innings of relief, allowing five runs on eight hits. Shane Bauer and Drew Koenen combined for the final two innings. Koenen shined for the Big Green, allowing only one hit while fanning three batters in the final 1.1 innings of the game.
