Smithfield, R.I. –The Dartmouth men's basketball team opened its road schedule against Bryant on Wednesday, falling 82-75 at Chace Athletic Center.
With the loss, the Big Green moves to 0-2 on the season while Bryant adds to the win column for the first time this season, 1-2. Brandon Mitchell-Day scored a team-high 18 points, adding 15 rebounds for his 14th career double-double, which is his second of the season.
Connor Amundsen made his sophomore debut with 15 points and six assists. Jayden Williams was also a top scorer for the Big Green, scoring 15 points and marking five rebounds.
Dartmouth will return home to face Appalachian State for the first time in program history on Sunday at 12 p.m.
FIRST HALF:
The Big Green struck first with a three-pointer from Jayden Williams, but Albany was able to even the score one minute later. This neck-and-neck playing was a constant throughout the first half.
The Big Green maintained control of the lead until the last five minutes of the half, at one point having a seven-point lead over the Bulldogs. Two free throws from Bryant's Timofei Rudovskii allowed Bryant to take the lead for the second time in the half.
The teams went back and forth with one-point leads in the final minutes of the half until a Munro layup gave Dartmouth the upper hand heading into halftime.
SECOND HALF:
The tight battle continued entering the second half, with Bryant tying the score with a dunk.
The Big Green were able to erase a seven-point deficit to even the score at 48-48, but Bryant soon after went on a 23-16 run to claim victory. At certain parts of the half, the point deficit for Dartmouth was as low as three.
Two made free throws by Bryant's Ty Tabales sealed the final score of 82-75.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dartmouth had a field goal percentage of 41.5, including 35.3% from the 3-point range. It also had 28 points in the paint.
The Big Green had a 56.3 free-throw percentage, making 9-of-16.
Dartmouth had the edge in bench points (23) as well as total rebounds (41).
