MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Dartmouth and the College of Charleston took to The Ballpark at Patriots Point, Friday, as the two teams faced off for the first time in program history.

Nate Isler and Jake Brink shined on the mound for their respective teams, allowing only two hits through three innings, two Dartmouth singles in the top half of the third inning. Each pitcher allowed a hit in the fourth inning, but the game remained scoreless.
The 0-0 score disappeared in the fifth inning as the Cougars led off their half of the inning with a walk before opening the scoring with an RBI double.
Dartmouth was able to tie the game in the seventh when
A.J. DeMastrie knocked a triple to right center field to put a runner in scoring position with no outs. Only two pitches later,
Zackarie Casebonne grounded out to shortstop to tie the game.
The Big Green had a chance to take the lead in the eighth inning.
Elliot Krewson doubled with one out before advancing to third on a ground out that also forced a pitching change.
Jackson Hower found himself in an 11 pitch at bat with Cougar relief pitcher Alex Lyon but ultimately grounded out to send the game to the bottom of the eighth knotted at one.
DeMastrie recorded his second hit of the day in the ninth, putting the go ahead run on first base with one out. Dartmouth was not able to capitalize, giving Charleston an opportunity for a walk off.
Back-to-back walks put two runners on with no outs for the Cougars. A sacrifice bunt advanced the runners to second and third for Dylan Johnson. Despite a diving catch in center field by
Axel Riess, his second of the day, the Cougars go ahead run scored, securing the 2-1 victory for the College of Charleston.
Isler allowed only one run on two hits in six innings pitched, not allowing a hit for the first half of his outing. He dealt two walks and fanned four batters.
