NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Big Green headed to Columbia for their final regular season Ivy League road games of the year, looking to make up valuable ground in the standings.

Despite successful days at the plate, combining for 16 runs across the two games, the Big Green fell in both games of the doubleheader to the Lions.

Game 1: Columbia 8, Dartmouth 6
In the first game of the series, the Lions got out to a quick start, scoring three runs in the first inning and never looking back as they went on to defeat the Big Green 8-6.

The Lions knocked four hits and earned two free passes in their half of the first inning, scoring one run on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded and adding two more on a single, making it a 3-0 game.

Columbia added another run in the second inning, opening a four-run lead.

In the third inning, the Big Green cut Columbia's lead in half. With two outs, Taer Rodriguez extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single to center field. Camden Rush was then hit by the pitch, giving way to Elliot Krewson who ripped a double down the left field line to score two runs.

The Lions wasted no time, getting the two runs back on a home run to center field in the bottom half of the inning to lead 6-2. Columbia would add another two runs in their half of the fourth to make it an 8-2 game.

The Big Green were threatening in the fifth inning and were able to score two runs, cutting Columbia's lead to four.

Axel Riess led off the inning with a single before a sacrifice bunt from Rodriguez advanced Riess to second. Rush then reached for the second time, singling to score one before Krewson hit his second double of the day to score Rush as it became an 8-4 game.

Dartmouth once again cut into Columbia's lead in the eighth inning. A.J. DeMstrie led off the inning with a double before an infield single put runners on first and third with no outs. Jackson Hower than reached on a throwing error by the Lions shortstop to score DeMastrie and make it an 8-5 game.

The Big Green went on to load the bases thanks to a fielder's choice and a hit by pitch, but were unable to pus any more runs across.

Dartmouth had life in the ninth inning. Krewson added his third hit and fourth RBI of the day, leading off the inning with a solo home run to center field. Then with two outs, Chris Miller was hit by the pitch and Hower popped up a ball that dropped in the infield to put two runners on.

The Lions were able to get pinch-hitter Stefan Di Corrado to fly out to end the game and defeat the Big Green, 8-6.

On the mound, Nate Isler got the start for the Big Green. He allowed eight runs on ten hits in six innings. He also walked two and fanned one.

Trey Sejnoha pitched the next 1.2 innings of relief. He walked four but did not allow a hit or a run.

Jeff Lee rounded out the game, getting the final Columbia batter out in the eighth inning.

Game 2: Columbia 16, Dartmouth 10
In game two of the doubleheader, the Big Green got out to a quick start and plated ten total runs, but it was not enough to defeat the Lions as Columbia earned the 16-10 victory.

The Big Green opened the scoring early. Camden Rush knocked his second career home run, a solo shot on only the fourth pitch of the game to give Dartmouth a 1-0 lead.
Columbia responded with a solo home run of their own as its leadoff hitter tied the game on the first pitch he saw. The Lions went on to add a second run in the inning, taking a 2-1 lead over the Big Green.

In the second inning, Columbia extended its lead to two runs on one hit, two walks, and a hit by pitch.

Dartmouth roared back to take the lead in the third inning, scoring five runs to make it a 6-3 game. The Big Green had two runners on with one out for Camden Rush who reached on an error to score Zackarie Casebonne and bring Dartmouth within one.

With two outs, Ethan Brown was hit by the pitch to reload the bases. A.J. DeMastrie drew a walk to tie the game, before another run would score on a wild pitch to give Dartmouth a 4-3 lead. Chris Miller then ripped a double down the left field line, scoring both Big Green base runners to make it 6-3 in favor of the Big Green.

The Lions came back to tie the game in the fourth adding three runs on three hits and a walk. All three of the Lions' hits in the fourth inning were for extra bases.

Despite the game now being tied, Dartmouth once again pulled ahead in their half of the fifth inning. Elliot Krewson doubled and advanced to third base on a wild pitch with only one out. Brown then singled to center field, collecting an RBI and once again putting the Big Green in front.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, momentum shifted in favor of the Lions. Columbia plated five runs on five hits and two walks. The Big Green also made three errors in the inning but eventually got three outs and left the bases loaded with Lions.

The Lions added an insurance run in the seventh inning, making it a five run deficit for the Big Green.

Dartmouth did get three runs back in the eighth. Axel Riess drew a walk and Taer Rodriguez singled to put two runners on with one out. Rush continued to be successful at the plate, hitting an RBI single to make it a 12-8 game.

Brown then doubled to right center field, scoring Rush and Rodriguez to make it a two run game.

In its half of the eighth, Columbia would add four runs, hitting another home run to open a 16-10 lead on the Big Green.

In their last chance to tie the game. The Big Green sent Alejandro Puig to the plate to lead off the ninth inning. He reached on an error, but a double play eliminated any threat as the Big Green fell to the Lions, 16-10.

Eddie Albert got the start for the Big Green, allowing six runs on six hits in 3.2 innings.

Danny Will took the loss, giving up five runs, three earned, on five hits in 1.2 innings of relief work.

Joseph Chambers pitched the next two innings, allowing four runs on three hits.

Aidan Plummer collected the final two outs for the Big Green but surrendered one run on three walks.

The Big Green and Lions will return to action Sunday, playing the final game of the three game series. First pitch will be around 12:20 p.m. and you can watch the game on ESPN+ or follow the live stats on DartmouthSports.com.
