The heavyweight team wrapped Eastern Sprints with the 5V race, earning second overall in the grand final (6:13.84) to take home silver, again finishing behind only the Tigers.
"This year's dual season has been one of the tightest and most competitive years I've experienced in the Sprints League and Sunday's championships were no different," Betsy and Mark Gates 1959 Head Coach of Men's Heavyweight Rowing
Wyatt Allen said. "I am proud of the group for battling through some very tough heats to place all five of our crews in the grand finals, a feat we've rarely achieved as a team. That being said, I think it's safe to say that several of our crews feel like we didn't have our best performances in the finals. I know the group is excited to get back to work this week to see if we can pull the right strings and make the changes needed to put ourselves in a better position going into the IRAs in Lake Natoma, CA in just under 2 weeks."
The Big Green will now look towards the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship slated to begin in two weeks. Competition will begin in Sacramento, California on Friday, May 29 and follow on both Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31.
