Men's Heavyweight Rowing
at Head of the Charles

Q and A with Ian
Why Dartmouth?
Dartmouth's academic atmosphere is very collaborative. Although the teachers here are great, I think that I've learned the most from my peers. There's a good group of rowers who are economics majors, so we've taken a bunch of classes together. I've gained a lot from working with those guys both in the library and in the boathouse.
How long have you been rowing and what got you interested in rowing?
I started rowing my freshman year at Dartmouth. I had been interested in the sport before coming to college, but unfortunately my high school did not have a crew team.
Have you won any academic or rowing awards recently?
I am in the Third Honor Group for academics.
Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
I am fluent in Spanish and one of my dogs was rescued from a construction yard in Palmas del Mar, Puerto Rico.
What extra-curricular activities do you participate in here at Dartmouth?
I co-own a bed rental company called Rockefeller Beds and I am a member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity. I have done research in the field of corporate finance through Dartmouth's Presidential Scholars program. I have also been involved with the Dartmouth Business Journal, the Dartmouth Investment and Philanthropy Program, and have worked as an economics tutor.
What are your future plans, if any.
I plan to pursue a career in the financial services industry.
