Q&A with Akanksha Wasan
Why Dartmouth?
Before coming to Dartmouth, I actually knew very little about it. But since I've had a chance to experience life here, I'm very happy to say that I made the right decision after all!
How long have you been rowing and what interested you about rowing?
I walked-onto the rowing team in a fit of spontaneity, my freshman fall. I was initially overwhelmed by the whole experience but my fears were quickly abated by a wonderful team of people, who were encouraging and supporting every step of the way. While I'm still a complete novice, I'm excited to see how far rowing will push me - both mentally and physically!
What is something about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates?
Till I was five, I lived in the Seychelles!
What extracurricular activities are you involved in on campus?
On Campus, I'm involved in Movement Against Violence and the South Asian Student Association. Apart from this, I also volunteer at an Upper Valley school as a mentor for 5th and 6th grade students.
What are your future plans, if any?
As of now, the plan is to keep my head down and get through the next 4 years here at Dartmouth. Post Graduation, I want to go to law school or maybe travel for a while.
