Dartmouth Women's Lacrosse Defeats James Madison, 14-12

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Dartmouth senior
Katieanne Christian (Agawam, Mass.) scored five goals, pacing the Big Green women's lacrosse team to a 14-12 victory over James Madison Tuesday.
The win pushed the No. 7 Big Green to 4-0 on the season. It's Dartmouth's best start since the 1997 team began the year 5-0 before finishing 10-4.
Sophomore
Whitney Douthett (Newtown, Pa.) also had a strong outing for the Big Green, scoring three goals and adding two assists for a five-point afternoon. Douthett had five ground balls, while Christian contributed four draw controls. Junior
Casey Hazel (Reisterstown, Md.) also helped the Dartmouth offense with three goals.
Freshman
Kristen Barry (Duxbury, Mass.) continued her impressive rookie season with two goals and four ground balls. Currently she's Dartmouth's third leading scorer with eight goals on the year.
Dartmouth jumped out to a 6-0 lead before JMU answered. The Big Green held a 9-8 lead at halftime.
Dartmouth scored four of the first five goals of the second half as markers by Hazel, Barry, Douthett and Christian pushed the Big Green to a 13-9 advantage. A free position goal by Douthett with 9:59 left in the game put the Dartmouth lead at 14-11.
JMU, 4-2 on the year, had three goal efforts from Kelly Berger, Emily Haller and Lynlea Cronin.
Dartmouth enters the Ivy League fray on Saturday, traveling to Yale for a 1 p.m. game. The Big Green continues the road trip at Columbia on Sunday, also facing off at 1 p.m.
