HANOVER, N.H. - Katieanne Christian had five goals to lift the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team to an 18-8 victory over Brown (2-6, 0-1 Ivy) on Saturday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field. The No. 6 ranked Big Green improves to 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Ivy League.

"We weren't as sharp as we have been, but we did have flashes of great play," said Dartmouth head coach Amy Patton.

Dartmouth opened the contest with five goals, including three by Christian (Agawam, Mass.) before Sarah Passano answered for the Bears. Margo Duke (Englewood, Colo.) quickly got one back and the Green led 6-1 with 11:42 left in the first half.

"Our defense in the first 20 minutes played phenomenally," added Patton.

A goal by Brown's Kate Staley was followed by three Dartmouth tallies, including one from Casey Hazel (Reisterstown, Md.), who finished with three goals. Dartmouth held a 9-3 lead at the break and owned a 13-9 edge in shots. Brown, however, came out and scored three goals in the first seven minutes of the second half to close the gap to 10-5. Patton called a timeout to regroup her troops and the move paid almost immediate dividends as freshman Kristen Barry (Duxbury, Mass.) and sophomore Whitney Douthett (Newtown, Pa.) each scored on a free position shot in the next few minutes. Barry finished with three goals and Douthett led the team with six points on a goal and five assists.

Amie Biros scored with 19:56 left to bring the Bears within six at 12-6, but the Big Green tallied the next four goals, capped by Christian's fifth of the game at 7:19. Dartmouth finished with a 31-20 edge in shots and a 33-14 advantage in ground balls.

Devon Wills (Denver, Colo.) played 58:50 in the cage before giving way to Kelly Roy (Sykesville, Md.). Wills finished with eight saves, while Brown's Julia Southard had nine. Dartmouth be in action again on Tuesday, April 5 when it travels to Amherst to take on the University of Massachusetts.
