HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's varsity heavyweight eight fell behind early and could not catch up to Brown, losing by less than a length. The Bears led by four seats at the start and extended that margin to eight seats by the 500 meter mark. Dartmouth tried to move on the Bears but wasn't able to cut into the lead. Brown completed the course in 5:15 and Dartmouth crossed the finish line in 5:18.
Dartmouth won the junior varsity race by open water, navigating the course in 5:31.2 to Brown's 5:41.0. The Bears had two entries in the freshman race and both finished ahead of the Dartmouth eight. Brown's first boat finished in 5:29.3, while the Brown 'B' was second in 5:37.6 and the Big Green was third in 5:42.3.
Dartmouth is now 2-4 on the season and 0-2 in the Ivy League. The Big Green will be in action again next Saturday, April 30, with home races against Wisconsin and MIT.
