Dartmouth Women's Lacrosse Stopped by BU

BOSTON, Mass. -- Lindsay Lewis scored her third goal of the game with 1:39 left in regulation and that pushed No. 5 Boston University to a 10-9 victory over No. 2 Dartmouth in women's lacrosse action Wednesday evening.

Lewis' goal spoiled a valiant Dartmouth comeback as the Big Green scored three straight goals in the second half to tie the game, 9-9, with 12 minutes to go.

For the first time all season, Dartmouth trailed, 7-4, at halftime as Lewis scored twice in the opening 30 minutes.

A pair of goals by senior Katieanne Christian (Agawam, Mass.) got Dartmouth within one, 5-4, with 10:59 left in the opening half, but Lauren Morton and Jenny Hauser scored for the Terriers to make it 7-4 at the break.

The two teams traded goals to start the second half before sophomore Whitney Douthett (Newtown, Pa.), Christian and freshman Kristen Barry (Duxbury, Mass.) scored from 20:13 to 12:22, making it 9-9.

The loss was the first of the season for the Big Green, who set a school-record 13-game win streak.

Christian and Barry each scored three goals for Dartmouth, while Douthett, sophomore Jen Pittman (New Canaan, Conn.) and junior Annie Leibovitz (Boulder, Colo.) netted one goal apiece.

Junior Devon Wills was in the nets for Dartmouth, now 13-1 on the year. Wills made nine saves, while BU's Anne Sheridan made eight.

The Terriers improved to 14-1 on the season.

Dartmouth returns to action on Wednesday, May 4, hosting Boston College in a 6 p.m. game at Scully-Fahey Field.
