HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth heavyweight rowing coach Topher Bordeau has announced the hiring of former Big Green captain Andrew Hilton '99 as the freshman heavyweight coach. Hilton brings a wealth of experience from a variety of areas to the role.
Hilton graduated from Dartmouth in 1999 as the captain of the varsity lightweight crew after leading the team to a bronze medal at the 1999 IRA
National Championships. Since then, he has coached at Havard, Wisconsin, MIT, and Cal-Berkeley, where he was an assistant coach on the staff that produced the 2006 IRA National Champion Cal varsity eight. Hilton also spent a year training with the United States National Team at USRowing's Princeton Training Center in 2002 and coached at Deerfield Academy from 2003-2005.
"Andy's return to the boathouse highlights an exciting time for the team," said Bordeau. "The fact that our program was able to attract someone with a decade of experience says a lot about what the guys have done over the past few years, and Andy's experience on programs that both recruit and develop elite-level talent will undoubtedly help us as we look to mover higher up in the ultra-competitive upper echelon of intercollegiate rowing."
