Women's Crew Takes Third at Eastern Sprints

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Dartmouth women's crew competed at the EAWRC Eastern Sprints today, highlighted by a third place finish for the varsity eight.

Dartmouth's varsity finished second to Princeton in its heat in a time of 6:39.62 and advanced to the Grand Final where it took third in a time of 6:31.00. The Big Green was in lane six for the race and defeated Yale, Radcliffe and Cornell. Princeton won the race in a time of 6:20.48 with Brown second.

The second varsity eight also advanced to the Grand Final, finishing fourth in a time of 6:40.48. The Tigers also won that race in 6:36.37, followed by Yale, Brown and Dartmouth, which was ahead of Radcliffe and Cornell. The crew had finished second in its heat to qualify for the Grand Final.

The varsity four placed third in the Petite Final and ninth overall in a time of 7:52.25. The Big Green took fourth place in its heat to qualify for the second level final.

Lastly, the Big Green's third varsity eight took fourth in the Petite Final with a time of 7:14.55. Boston University won the race in 6:52.11.

Princeton won the Willing Trophy for the overall point total, wining all but one varsity race on the day. Dartmouth placed seventh as a team.
