HANOVER, N.H. – Junior Lucielle Kozlov scored in the 19th minute, but Brown answered late to force overtime, resulting in a 1-1 (2OT) tie to open Ivy League play on Sunday afternoon.
“I thought we had good momentum for a long stretch today and it was one of those games where we needed to score that second goal to put them under pressure,” head coach Ron Rainey said.
Junior Jackie Friedman got the Big Green offense rolling in the 16th minute with the first shot of the contest that was stopped by Brown keeper Mallory Yant.

After pressuring the Brown defense, the Big Green forced back-to-back corner kicks and connected on the latter. The final set piece taken by senior Kendall Kraus that dropped into the six-yard box allowing for a pair of shots by the Big Green before Kozlov potted the ball into the net for the lead. Freshman Lindsay Knutson and junior Corey Delaney were credited with the assists after their initial attempts were blocked.
Freshman Melanie Vangel had the final shot on target of the half for the Big Green.
The offense was intensified in the second half, with back-to-back set pieces by the Big Green, and Yant once again made a big save on a blast by Kraus. Dartmouth finished the half with eight corner kicks, but Brown's defense held up.
Towards the end of the stanza, play was halted with five minutes remaining after an injury to a Dartmouth player. Following the restart, momentum shifted in favor of the Bears who tied the game with 1:58 left off a cross by Mikela Waldman to Erin Katz.
“Brown had a good counter and it worked. In the first 87 minutes we controlled the game, but the final 23 it was a battle. Both teams worked hard, but the goal gave them much needed energy,” said Rainey.
“If this is what all the Ivy games are like we should be excited to be a part of them,” said Rainey.
Dartmouth finished the contest outshooting Brown, 17-8, and finished 11-1 in set pieces.
Senior Tatiana Saunders made four saves in the contest, while Yant also had four stops.
Dartmouth (3-2-1, 0-0-1 Ivy) travels to Sacred Heart on Tuesday and Princeton on Saturday evening.
