Dartmouth Opens Spring at Doc Hosea Invitational

CAMDEN, N.J.  – Dartmouth women's rowing opened the spring by placing seventh out of 12 teams at the Doc Hosea Invitational, ending the day with 63 points. The Big Green sent three of their boats to the Grand Finals.

The event – which featured crews from Boston University, Columbia, UMass, Minnesota, Navy, Northeastern, Penn, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Syracuse and Temple – is held each year in honor of Tim Hosea, MD, who served for many years as the USRowing team doctor and passed away unexpectedly in 2015.

Heats
The Big Green's V8 placed fourth (6:54.23), finishing a second and a half ahead of URI in fifth. In the 2V8, Dartmouth also came fourth (7:04.37), completing the 2,000-meter course just half a second ahead of Columbia.

The Green fared well in the V4 races, clocking a 7:45.60 in the A and an 8:01.53 in the B to take second in both. In the final race of the morning, Dartmouth won the second heat of the 3V8 (7:18.80), out-finishing Navy by just over a second.

Finals
The Big Green were first in the V8 Petite Final (6:51.50), leaving almost three full seconds between them and Columbia. Soon after, Dartmouth was third in the PF of the 2V (7:02.68), coming in right behind Columbia and two seconds against of UMass.

In the Grand Final of the V4, the Green was fourth (7:54.42), coming in seven seconds ahead of Temple in fifth, while Dartmouth was fifth in the B4 (8:10.56). The Big Green's 3V8 placed fifth in the GF (7:32.44), out-finishing Rutgers by almost 16 seconds.

Next Sunday, April 7, Dartmouth will head to Princeton for the Ivy Round Robin.
