HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth (1-2) opened Ivy League play with a 12-9 loss to Yale (4-0), Saturday afternoon. Junior
Katie Elders led the Big Green with three goals on the day and has six so far this season.
The Big Green opened the first quarter with a quick 3-0 lead in the first four minutes. Freshman

Maja Desmond each scored for Dartmouth. The Bulldogs responded with four unanswered goals. Their final goal of the first came with just seven seconds on the clock to give Yale a 4-3 lead after 15 minutes.
The Bulldogs extended the lead to 5-3 to start the second, but the Big Green began to battle back. Senior
Anna Griffith scored on a free position to cut the lead to 5-4 and the Elders scored her second to tie the game at 5-5 with 5:19 remaining in the half. Yale scored twice in the final five minutes to take a two-goal lead and the score was 7-5 at halftime.
Dartmouth and Yale traded goals to start the third period. The Bulldogs scored first and then junior
Jev Ward got on the board to make the score 8-6 with six minutes to play. Yale responded, but Ward scored her second in a row to keep pace with the Bulldogs. The Big Green gave up the third goal with 16 seconds left in the quarter and the score was 10-7 Yale headed in into the fourth.
Each team scored twice in the final quarter. Desmond scored her second of the game to start the fourth and then the Bulldogs answered with two goals of their own to make the score 12-8 with eight minutes to play. Elders scored her third of the game with 4:32 to play and the game ended with a final score of 12-9.
The Big Green return to action, Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a road matchup with Merrimack. The game will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
