HANOVER, N.H. — Five heavyweight rowers from Dartmouth are among the 65 selected to participate in USRowing selection camps this summer.
Senior
Isaac Spokes (Baltimore, Md.) and freshman
Julian Thomas (New Hope, Pa.) have been invited to the sculling selection camp to be held at Conshohocken Rowing Center located in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
Spokes rowed in the sixth seat with Thomas in the second seat of the bronze medal-winning 2V boat at the Eastern Sprints.
Returning to camp for a second time is junior
Jacob Hudgins (Andover, Mass.), who rowed in the men's eight that brought home a silver medal from Racice, Czech Republic, in 2021.
Joining Hudgins at camp will be his younger brother, freshman
Miles Hudgins (Andover, Mass.) as well as fellow first-year athlete
Sammy Houdaigui (McLean, Va.). The two are going to the sweep selection camp which will be held at Harvard.
Both Hudgins and Houdaigui are coming off a bronze medal finish in the varsity eight boat at the Eastern Sprints last weekend.
Harvard heavyweight assistant coaches Jesse Foglia and Patrick Lapage will join Northeastern's head coach Justin Jones as coaches of the sweep camp and will select the men's eight and men's four that will race in Varese.
Conshohocken rowing center director Craig Hoffman, assistants Lyons Bradley, and Aaron Preetam will join with Hobart assistant James Konopka to head up the sculling camp that will select the men's quad that will compete in Italy.
The athletes attending selection camps this summer will have the opportunity to be selected through the camps to represent the U.S. at the
2022 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 25-30 in Varese, Italy.
Selection camps begin between June 17-19 and run through July 10.
